Communion is
served the first Sunday of each month.
Sacraments
Sacraments are signs and
means of God’s grace, the undeserved forgiveness of sins.
Through the sacraments we celebrate and receive the grace of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In the United Methodist Church,
there are two sacraments: baptism and communion.
-
Communion, like
grace itself, is open to all who would receive regardless of
age or denominational affiliation. The sacramental table is
the table of God’s grace which is free to one and all.
-
Baptism, like grace
itself, is open to all who would receive. Since the primary
focus in baptism is on God’s offer of grace to us, infants,
children and adults may receive the sacrament. When a child
is ready to profess faith in Christ, confirmation (not a
sacrament) celebrates that profession of faith. Confirmands
profess faith after receiving instruction in a confirmation
class or from one of our pastors. Baptisms should be
scheduled through Linda in the church office at 869-0888.
Since part of the service of infant baptism is a commitment
to nurture a child’s faith through worship, scripture and
church participation, parents must be members of Wesley for
their children to be baptized.
There are
Sunday School classes, nurseries and child care for children
and adults at all three worship times.
